The Mausoleum of Omar Khayyam<\/a><\/strong> (Persian<\/a>: \u0622\u0631\u0627\u0645\u06af\u0627\u0647 \u0639\u0645\u0631 \u062e\u06cc\u0627\u0645 ) is a modern<\/a> mausoleum<\/a> of white marble erected over Omar Khayyam<\/a>‘s headstone located on the south-east of the city of Nishapur<\/a>, Iran<\/a>. This mausoleum is a symbol of modern Persian architecture<\/a> and is part of the national heritage<\/a> of Iran<\/a>. This monument was built during the reign of the Pahlavi dynasty<\/a> and was designed by Hooshang Seyhoun<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reconstruction of the Mausoleum of Omar Khayyam in Nishapur was commissioned by\u00a0Reza Shah<\/a>. Omar’s previous tomb was separated from his tomb, and a white marble monument (Current Mausoleum), designed by the Iranian architect\u00a0Hooshang Seyhoun<\/a>, was erected over it. This mausoleum became one of the main symbols of the\u00a0city<\/a>\u00a0and one of the known works of the\u00a0modern Persian architecture<\/a>. The influence of the architectural design of this mausoleum is visible on the coat of arms of the\u00a0University of Neyshabur<\/a>,\u00a0Neyshabur University of Medical Sciences (NUMS)<\/a>\u00a0and other public, civil and private organizations of the city. The construction of the new mausoleum was completed in the year 1963.<\/p>\n\n\n
